Counseling Services
At Elizabeth Forward High School, the school counselor plays a central role in supporting students’ academic progress, emotional well-being, and future planning. School counselors work with students individually and in small groups to address concerns such as stress, anxiety, peer relationships, family changes, and academic challenges. They help students develop coping skills, resolve conflicts, and build confidence as they navigate high school life.
Academically, school counselors guide students through course selection, monitor graduation requirements, and help ensure students stay on track toward earning their diplomas. They also assist with college and career readiness by coordinating career exploration activities, supporting college applications, facilitating scholarship information, and helping students understand post-secondary options, including workforce pathways, technical programs, military service, and four-year universities.
In addition, school counselors collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to create intervention plans when students are struggling. They are part of the school’s crisis response system, providing immediate support during emergencies and connecting families to outside mental health resources when longer-term services are needed. Overall, the role of a school counselor at Elizabeth Forward High School is to advocate for students, remove barriers to learning, and help every Warrior grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
