Students Leading with Purpose: iSH Company Gives Back in a Big Way

A group of teenagers pose with various colored shirts standing in front of an EF backdrop.

At Elizabeth Forward High School, a group of students is proving that leadership, compassion, and entrepreneurship can go hand in hand. The iSH Company—short for In Student Hands—is doing exactly what its name promises: putting meaningful impact directly into the hands of students.

This student-driven initiative recently made a powerful contribution to the community by donating 280 shirts and $1,000 to support patients in need at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. It’s the kind of effort that goes beyond a school project—it’s real-world kindness with real-world results.

The iSH Company isn’t just about creating products; it’s about creating purpose. Students take ownership of the entire process, from concept and design to production and outreach. Along the way, they build skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership—while keeping their focus on helping others.

The donation to UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital reflects a deep understanding of community needs, particularly in the area of mental health. The shirts serve not only as practical items but also as symbols of comfort and connection—reminders that someone cares. The financial contribution helps extend that support even further, providing resources for patients who may be facing difficult circumstances.

What makes this effort especially meaningful is that it was entirely student-led. These aren’t adults assigning a service project—this is students recognizing a need and stepping up to meet it. That kind of initiative speaks volumes about the culture at Elizabeth Forward High School and the character of its students.

The iSH Company continues to show that when students are empowered, incredible things can happen. Whether it’s through creativity, generosity, or sheer determination, they are making a difference—one project at a time.

And if this is what happens when it’s “in students' hands,” we might want to keep it there.

Elizabeth Forward School District is proud to announce that Mya Morgan, a senior at Elizabeth Forward High School, has won her second consecutive PIAA Individual Golf Championship. Mya first claimed the state title last year, making this an extraordinary back-to-back achievement.

Mya, the daughter of Tony and Nicole Morgan, is a scholar and an athlete who plans to attend Central Michigan University on a golf scholarship to study Engineering and Quantum Finance. She entered the season as the reigning PIAA AAA Individual Golf Champion and a two-time WPIAL AAA Girls Golf Individual Champion (2023 and 2025). Over her high school career, she has set multiple records for Elizabeth Forward Girls’ Golf, including becoming the first WPIAL Individual Golf Champion and PIAA AAA Girls Golf Individual Champion in school history.

Her excellence on the course has also earned regional and national recognition. Mya has been named Athlete of the Week by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Mon Valley Independent, and she is one of only 100 recipients nationwide of the 2025 U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) Grant. Most recently, she was honored as the WPGA Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Mya credits those around her for her success, especially her teammates. “I am so proud of all we have accomplished together! I am proud of our team and commitment to each other. Alizabeth, Syd, Analise, Lily, Anna…I love them to the moon and back”.

I have been so lucky to have Coach Korona and Coach Day stand beside me step by step through my high school journey.” Mya continued: “EF is so lucky to have those two, and I will cherish everything they have done for me. They have truly made a gigantic impact on my life. My favorite memory will always be Coach Day and his gigantic hug, lifting me off my feet on the 18th green after winning my second state championship at Penn State”.

Justin Korona, the Elizabeth Forward Girls Golf Coach, said about Mya, “I am super proud of Mya and all of her accomplishments: 2 PIAA and WPIAL individual championships, numerous individual school records, 2 team section titles, and the first undefeated team regular season in program history.” Coach Korona added, “I wish her the best of luck next year at Central Michigan University.”

Elizabeth Forward Superintendent, Keith Konyk, is proud of Mya’s accomplishments on and off the course, “Winning one state title is special. Winning a second speaks to Mya’s relentless preparation and competitive spirit. Elizabeth Forward is incredibly proud of her PIAA Class AAA championship and the example she sets for our students in the classroom and on the course.”

“I would like to congratulate Mya on this wonderful accomplishment. Mya shines both on the golf course and academically at school. She is a well-rounded individual.” Mrs. Kelli Garlow, Elizabeth Forward High School Principal, said. “We look forward to seeing her continued success at Central Michigan.”
